Hijama near Washington, DC

The hijama room at the HAWA Fairfax Community Center, Fair Lakes

Getting here from Washington, DC

From Washington, DC the practice is about 22.6 miles away, roughly 35 minutes by car.

From the middle of the city the route is west along Constitution Avenue, past the Lincoln Memorial, over the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, and then I-66 west for almost nineteen miles. Leave at the Fairfax County Parkway / Fair Lakes exit, and you are a couple of minutes from the building. From the north-east of the city, near Union Station, add the drive across town.

These are clear-road figures from OpenStreetMap routing, checked in October 2026. Weekday rush hour can stretch them a long way, so check your map on the day, just before you leave. Inside the Beltway, I-66 charges a toll at weekday rush hour to drivers without passengers; outside those hours it is free. Leaving the city westbound in the late afternoon is the slow direction, so a morning or weekend slot is much easier.

Why it suits Washington, DC

There is very little hijama inside the city done the way many people want it: wet cupping, a sterile single-use kit, a practitioner of the same gender as you, in a private room. Fair Lakes is a straight run out on I-66. If you are weighing it up, read the Google reviews first; that is what most people do before the drive.

When you get to Fair Lakes

The address to put into your phone is 4401 Fair Lakes Ct, Fairfax, VA 22033. We are inside the HAWA Fairfax Community Center, in Room 401a on the fourth floor.

The Fair Lakes exit is the one to watch for: off the interstate, and a minute later you are there. The community center is a low, dark-glass building set back behind trees, with a paved path up to the entrance. There is no clinic sign outside, so look for the building, not a sign.

Parking is free. Use the lot outside the building; park anywhere, no permit is needed. The parking lot, the entrance and the restroom are wheelchair accessible, and there is an elevator up to the fourth floor.

Come a few minutes early. A few screening questions come first, then the session; allow about an hour and a half for brothers and two hours for sisters. What to eat, wear and bring is on the booking page.

Who you will see, and what it costs

A woman practitioner for sisters, a man for brothers. Wet cupping (hijama) is $135, dry cupping $115, with a $55 deposit at booking that comes off the price (prices in full). By appointment only; book here. New to hijama? Start with What is Hijama?

Nearby, we have also written up the trip from Arlington, Alexandria and Falls Church. Worth reading before you come: where to find us in Northern Virginia and read the Google reviews. Coming from further away? See travelling to us. Or see every area we serve.

Hijama is a traditional practice and is not a substitute for medical care. If you are on medication, pregnant, or unsure for any reason, speak to your doctor first and say so at intake.
