What happens in a session

Everything is explained before anything begins. We talk through what you are hoping for, agree whether dry or wet cupping suits you, and answer whatever you want to ask — there is no rush, and no obligation to go ahead.

Cups are then placed on the chosen points to draw gentle suction. You will feel a firm pulling sensation; most people find it relaxing rather than uncomfortable. In dry cupping that is the whole of it. In wet cupping, the traditional practice, the cups come off and very superficial points are made before the cups go back on briefly. Fresh single-use cups and blades are opened for every client, in front of you.

Afterwards the area is cleaned and covered, and we talk through what to expect over the next day or two. Mild soreness where the cups sat is normal and settles quickly. Men are seen by Ramiz and women by Namira, so you are always with a practitioner of your own gender.

How to prepare

Come well hydrated, and avoid a heavy meal in the two to three hours before your appointment. Wear loose, comfortable clothing — we provide everything else. If you are pregnant or managing a health condition, please speak to your physician first; we do not perform wet cupping during pregnancy. Sisters who would like to schedule around their cycle need only say so when booking.

Many people who keep the tradition prefer the 17th, 19th and 21st of the lunar month, and return every three or four months. Neither is a requirement — come when it suits you, and we will help you find a time.

Do you have a female hijama practitioner for women?

How much does hijama cost?

Hijama (wet cupping) is $135 per session and dry cupping is $115 per session. There is one price per service, with no packages and no upsells. Payment is taken when you book, which is what holds the slot for you.

An hour and a half for men and two hours for women, for both wet and dry cupping. Appointments are unhurried, so the time is yours.
