Have you ever wondered when you should do Hijama? This is one of the most asked questions that we get, and here is our answer:
Of course, you can do Hijama whenever you like, but there are a few "Sunnah Days" that were recommended by our Prophet (saw).
Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Whoever is treated with cupping on the seventeenth, nineteenth or twenty first, will be healed from all diseases.”
These dates follow the Islamic Lunar calendar, not the modern one.
Hijama is also recommended on specific days of the week, which are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
Some other considerations you should take:
1. Highly recommended to perform Hijama on an empty stomach.
2. Hijama is usually not recommended for children under the age of 7,
and treatments for children under the age of 11-12 should be light and quick.
3. Pregnant women are advised to avoid Hijama.
Things you should do before the session:
1. Stay hydrated.
2. Refrain from using substances like caffeine, sugar, or nicotine for several hours beforehand.
3. Keep your skin clear and avoid applying creams/lotions to the treatment area.
Things you should do after the session:
1. Rest, and avoid tiring physical activity for about 24 hours.
2. Stick to light, healthy meals and stay hydrated to support the healing process.
3. Follow your practitioner's instructions, which can include applying oils to the treatment area
or refraining from showering for a period of time.
